Medium bodied, it is soft, supple and round with a solid core berry fruit with ripe cherry undertones. Well balanced, firm yet with an integrated tannin structure and a long lingering finish that makes it easy to enjoy now. The Château itself is an impressive sight, with its 18th-century Mansard roof and octagonal tower topped by a boar-headed weathercock, from which the domaine takes its name - a hureau is an old, solitary wild boar. Behind the Château sits the winery carved out of the Limestone cliffs in the 13th century and overlooking the Loire river.　In 1987, Philippe Vatan carried on the tradition of a winegrower family, when he took over Château du Hureau, a wonderful estate located on the southern bench of the Loire River.
