The Wine: Stéphane DERENONCOURT, one of the best and smart world wine maker, has selected this property, and signs the 2007 vintage.
The "premier vin" 2007 is a blend of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc(15%). It has been bottled May 2009. Mr. R. PARKER marked it 87-90, and "La Revue des Vins de France" 16.5.
Robert Parker review: It is hard to believe this property’s name could withstand a probable legal onslaught from the owners of Petrus, and, no doubt, Piedmont’s Angelo Gaja. Apparently, the name dates back to the 14th century, but it does appear like an exploitation of two of the greatest names of winedom. In any event, it is a very good blend of 85% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc made under the guidance of consultant Stephane Derenoncourt. Its dark ruby/purple hue is followed by sweet aromas of blackberries, blueberries, smoke, and minerals. Fresh and lively, it is best consumed during its first 4-8 years of life.
