Wine Served
Hiro
Small and cozy wine wine bar one minute from Shibuya station.
Well-lighted and relaxed, Hiro offers an lengthy and diverse wine list of reasonably-priced wines available by the glass, carafe or bottle. Glass prices start at 430 yen with most priced at 500 yen. No skimpy pours. The daily menu (Japanese only) is scribbled on chalkboards and consists mostly of tapas-style dishes plus a selection of sliced meats and cheese. The lone cook (a woman when we visited) works in full view of the bar and has a talent for preparation and presentation. Everything we ordered arrived quickly and was excellent. Aside from the don't-stay-TOO-long hard wooden stools the place earned high marks from your intrepid reviewer. Think of Hiro as a far cheaper and less pretentious Izakaya Vin (also nearby).
